A Message from the BTNAA President: Board Approves New Dues Structure

To Our Alumni Brothers and Sisters,

Your alumni board of directors met on Wednesday, April 22nd at our quarterly meeting.  Matt Valenzuela, '85, Vice President chaired the meeting in my absence due to the passing of my father.

The board, after much deliberation and consideration, made the decision to simplify the dues structure.  There will now only be two categories of dues, Lifetime Membership at $200 in a single payment, and Annual Membership at $20, down from $25.  Anyone who is currently paying on a lifetime membership through installments will continue to complete their payments until all are fully paid.

The board has approved holding a Founder's Birthday Picnic at the Campus in even years to celebrate Father Flanagan's birthday which is on July 13th.  The event will be held this year on Saturday, July 11th and will be hosted by the Omaha Chapter and the BTNAA.  Mark your calendar!

Work on the new website continues as we learn more of the many capabilities available to us.  I recommend you go to the website and look around to see what interests you.  As an example, did you know that there is a whole page dedicated to job and career search, replete with great suggestions in building a resume or searching for jobs?  You can also apply, as a paid up member, to the BTNAA Scholarship Fund for up to $4000 in Scholarship Assistance on a calendar year basis.  Take some time to look over the website and give us feedback on how we might be able to make it better.

The board approved a project to build permanent seating at the Veteran's Memorial.  The plan is to have it completed by the reunion in 2027.  More information will be forthcoming on the project and the fund-raising effort to bring it to fruition.  View a notional layout of the project here.

Please reach out to members of the board if you have any recommendations on how we can make our Association better.  We are here for you!

Sincerely,

Jeff James, D'83

President
