John J. Anthony, D'43

obit_john_anthony_600x800John J. Anthony, D'43, passed away on June 13, 2018 in Lincoln, Missouri.

John J. Anthony was born in Pierce City, MO on September 6, 1924, the son of John J. and Jessie C. Anthony and passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018, at the Lincoln Community Care Center in Lincoln, MO.
 

John married Betty Evans on August 27, 1954 and she passed away November 28, 2000.  On February 8, 2003, he was united in marriage to Dorothy D. Edmonds at the Frist Baptist Church in Lincoln, MO.  They made their home north of Lincoln on the farm where Dorothy had lived while teaching school for 40 years until failing health led them to the Lincoln Assisted Living Center.
 

After graduating from high school, John entered the US Army and became an instructor in radar and communications for the US Army Signal Corp, 848th Signal Training Battalion Headquarters Company.  He served his country from May of 1943 until January 1948 when he was honorably discharged.
 

John attended Cleveland University in Ohio and received a Business Administration bachelor's degree. He worked as an inventory manager for Gates Rubber Company in Kansas City, KS retiring after 21 years of service in May of 1980.  He then worked 9 years for Automatic Data Processing Company, retiring and moving to Bella Vista, AR in January 1989 to enjoy playing golf and fishing.  He lived their 10 years before moving to Sedalia, MO.
 

John was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lincoln where he was involved in various activities as long as his health permitted.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Betty.
 

John is survived by his wife, Dorothy, two foster children: Patrick R. Paxton and Ralene Fangman.
