John Francis Buckley, '57, passed away on February 16, 2019 in Omaha, Nebraska.

John was born in Omaha on April 9th, 1938. After attending Boys Town, John served his country in the Marine Corp.

On November 23, 1963, John married Wilma Schrader. John worked several different jobs during his life, but he mainly made his living as a truck driver. John had an uncanny ability to know every road no matter where you were. If you told him you were driving to Chicago, he would tell you stay off 55, take 83 up to 290 into the city.

John loved being around people, he would strike up a conversation with anyone. Later in life, John really enjoyed watching his grand kids play baseball and softball. Everyone at the ball park knew Grandpa John, as he was the loudest and proudest fan there. He earned the nickname Mr. Monopoly due to his handle bar mustache.

John was also a huge Husker fan. Not only football, John loved watching the volleyball, baseball and basketball teams. John attended several games, but if he couldn't make the games, he would be sure to catch them on TV or even the radio.

John loved his family very much, including his faithful dog Charlie.

he is survived by his wife of 55 years Wilma Buckley; Sons: John Buckley, Jr., Mike Buckley & wife Lynn; Grandchildren: Lisa, Nick; Great Grandson Cayden; Sisters Mary & Diane.
