obit_william_thomas_600x800Dr. William Clyde Thomas, M.D., '69, passed away on February 18, 2018 in Orange Park, Florida.  Lifetime Member.

Dr. William Clyde Thomas passed away on February 18, 2018 in Orange Park, FL. He was born on March 1, 1951 in Battle Creek, MI to the late William M. and Elizabeth M. Thomas.
 
Dr. Thomas received a Bachelor of Arts degree (summa cum laude) from Temple University and his medical degree from University of Florida. 
 
Dr. Thomas was a life member of the VFW in Orange Park, FL, life member of the American Legion in Middleburg, FL, and a life member of the Boys Town National Alumni Association, Boys Town, NE. He was an avid reader, enjoyed classic movies, classic rock music and computer games.
 
Dr. Thomas served in the United States Navy for 23 years and retired as a Lieutenant Commander. He served on the U.S.S. America carrier group in the Mediterranean Sea during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He then served during the conflict in Bosnia on the U.S.S. Kearsarge Amphibious Group. He then served at the Naval Hospital Jacksonville. He finished his Naval career as Chief Medical Officer at the medical clinic at Kingsbay Submarine Base in Georgia. At the time of his death, he was serving as the medical director at Hyde Park Medical Center in Jacksonville.
 
Dr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Clyde Thomas, Sr. and Carrie G. Thomas; Ivan and Margaret King.
 
Dr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Patricia L. Thomas; children, Kimberly Dawn and Michael Paul Thomas; grandchildren, Jadon M. and Alexa L. Thomas and Linda M. Alvarado; brother, Terence M. Thomas; nephew, Edmund Thomas; nieces, Elizabeth Benetz, Karen L. Loiseau and Anna M. Thomas; cousins, Mary Fenzl, Karen Schlickbernd, Jack, Tom, Michael, Jeff and Kathlene King, and Barbara Schumaker and a host of friends.
