obit_robert_bockman_600x800Robert E. Bockman, D '53, passed away onFebruary 25, 2018 in Tacoma, Washington.

Robert E. Bockman, Sr. Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather Born in Omaha, Nebraska August 11, 1935; departed us February 25, 2018 to be with our heavenly Father, and joins his beloved wife Mary. Together they enjoyed 46 beautiful years of love for one another and their family.

Bob retired from the U.S.A.F after 20 years of service, then worked federal civil service 22 years, retiring with 42 years. Bob was a graduate of Father Flanagan's Boys Town in Omaha, of which he was very proud. He was a volunteer at Birney Elementary School, receiving numerous awards such as The Golden Acorn award and a lifetime membership of Washington State PTA.

Preceded in death by his loving wife Mary and son Mark; survived by sons Robert Jr., Edward (Sonja), and Dwayne (Carolyn), 9 grandchildren with one deceased, and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was a very proud and devoted Catholic, and was a Eucharistic Minister and loved leading the rosary as well as serving at mass. He was an active member of Serra of Tacoma. Bob was appointed sacristan and acolyte for Holy Rosary Parish, which meant so much to him. He devoted his time and talents to this very prestigious position; he gave it his all.

Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, March 5, 2018, at 1:00pm at Holy Rosary Parish. Burial  at Calvary Cemetery followed Mass.
