Cowboys Pass Their Way to Close  Victory
TJ Murray tossed three passes and ran for a 2-point PAT to give BT a closely fought win over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 25-18.  Carlos Goertz contributed a field goal to start the scoring.  Murray's touchdown passes dropped into the hands of Lebron Pendles for 21 yards, Uzziah Freeman for 16 and a final pass that garnered 64 yards for a touchdown.  LVSS outscored the Cowboy gridders in the third quarter but the BT defense held them scoreless in the second and fourth quarters.  The Cowboys are home again next Friday as they host Ashland-Greenwood for their Homecoming Game.  We are looking for a large alumni turnout for this game which has an early start at 6 p.m.  Be sure to bring your family early at 5 o'clock to enjoy tailgating and eating the tasty hamburgers and hot dogs served up by our own Alumni Director, Tony Jones, '88.  Hope to see you at the game!

Homecoming Loss Staggers Cowboys
With a 2-1 record under their belt Cowboy gridders and fans looked forward to an exciting Homecoming outing.  It was not to be.  The Cowboys were on the losing end of an energized and talented Ashland-Greenwood squad that posted 46 points on the scored board when time ran out on Friday night.  Bright spots for the BT footballers were a 98 yard kick return by Jahad Hart and Uzziah Freeman who scored on an 80 yard  pass from Hart.  Carlos Goertz added the PATs.  While the game was a tough one for the Cowboys, the BT Alumni pride was in full force as many alumni converged on the "Corral" to cheer for the BT eleven.  Arriving before the game, everyone had a great time "Tailgating with Tony" as our Alumni Director, Tony Jones, served up delicious food from the grill.  After the game many attendees headed for a local watering hole to share more time together.  Thanks to everyone who made the evening a great event.  Be sure to take a trip to Fort Calhoun next Friday to give your support to our Cowboy footballers as they look to get back on the winning track.

Cowboys Drop Heartbreaker in One Point Loss
After suffering a thorough thrashing at the hands of Ashland-Greenwood, the BT eleven headed to Fort Calhoun for redemption against the Fort Calhoun Pioneers.  The Cowboys were leading 21-20 with thirty seconds left in the game as the Pioneers attempted a two-point conversion and were successful.  This last minute push gave the Pioneers the win and Boys Town moved to a 2-3 record.  There was no lack of fight in the Cowboys and it was a hard fought game.  Pierce Newman accounted for two touchdowns, one rushing and one on a 62 yard pass from QB TJ Murray.  Uzziah Freeman also scored on a pass from Murray.  Up next for the Cowboy gridders is another away game at Platteview on October 4th.

BT Rides Goertz's Toe to Victory Over Platteview
Rebounding from a tough and close loss to Fort Calhoun the Cowboy footballers relied on the accurate kicking of Carlos Goertz to lead them to a 15-7 victory over Platteview in what turned out to be a strong defensive battle on both sides of the ball.  Platteview scored first in the second quarter on a 54 yard pass play and BT closed the score to 7-6 on a one-yard touchdown run by Armond Hill.  Stymied on the ground and air in the second half, the Cowboys field goal kicker rose to the occasion booting three from 34, 37 and 31 yards out to put the game away.  Next up for the 3-3 gridders is a home game against Arlington.  Let's give a big alumni turnout to cheer our Cowboys on as they look to go over the .500 mark for the season on October 11th at the Corral.  See you at the game.

Cowboys Dismantle Arlington in Second Half
On the first really cold night of football for the Cowboys it looked like they were going to be as cold as the temperature at the Corral.  Falling behind the Arlington Eagles in the first half the BT gridders were only able to muster seven points in the second quarter as their opponents took a 12-7 lead into the lockerroom at half time.  It seems that something changed during the break at the half and the Cowboys came storming out with a defense that shut the Eagles down in the second half and an offense that caught fire.  The lone score in the first half was made by Armand Hill on a 23-yard pass from TJ Murray.  In the second half, TJ Covington scored on a 5-yard run (he ran for 133 total yards on the night) and Uzziah Freeman took a pair of TJ Murray passes to the end zone to notch 21 points in the second half.  Extra points were added by the reliable kicking of Carlos Goertz.  The Cowboys, now 4-3 on the season will take on the 1-6 Douglas County West Falcons on Friday, October 18th at the Corral.  Be sure to be in the stands to support the BT eleven as they look to bring their season record to 5-3.

BT Stymies DC West - Wins Conference Tilt 50-0
The Cowboy gridders got off to a fast start against the Douglas County West Falcons and were up 43-0 at halftime.  The opening kickoff of the second half was returned 72 yards by Jahad Hart followed by the PAT booted by Carlos Goertz.  This, mercifully, ended the scoring for the night.  The Cowboy offensive production was paced by TJ Covington who posted two touchdowns and 123 yards rushing.  Dionte Ray (two TDs), Armond Hull, TJ Murray and Jahad Hart all contributed to the lopsided score.  Next up is a Thursday night contest, October 24th, at Omaha Concordia.  This will be the final game of the regular season.  Let's get a huge turnout for our hard fighting Boys Town Cowboys as they shoot to end the season at 6-3.  The Cowboys are currently 3-1 in conference play and Concordia is their last conference foe.

Cowboys Close Out Regular Season with 38-16 Victory
Boys Town's scrappy eleven posted a 38-16 win over Omaha Concordia to close out regular season play at 6-3 and cinching a spot in the Nebraska State playoffs.  BT's TJ Murray threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns, including two to Uzziah Freeman to lead the Cowboys to their fourth straight win.  Besides Freeman, Pierce Newman, Justing Singleton and TJ Covington provided TDs to nail down the victory.  Carlos Goertz added a PAT and a field goal to the total.

The number 15 seed Cowboys next challenge is in the first round of the state tournament where they are matched up with number 2 seed Wahoo High School who is sporting an undefeated 9-0 record.  Let's get as many alumni out to Wahoo for this game to give our support to the Cowboys who fought long and hard to make it into the final 16 for the playoffs.  See you at Wahoo on November 1st at 7:00 pm.
