John Robert Gallagher, '68, passed away on August 25, 2017 in Hopkins, Minnesota.  Lifetime Member.

John Robert Gallagher, age 67, passed away tragically during the early morning hours of August 25, 2017 in Hopkins, Minnesota.
 
John was born in O’Neil, Nebraska where his family was one of the pioneer families of the town. He came to Boys Town shortly before his junior year and graduated with the class of 1968.
 
John was immediately able to make friends due to his kind, gentle personality and his infectious smile. 
 
After graduation he had many careers before settling in Hopkins, MN. John loved to work with his hands and also collect items that had value and resell them. He was known in his community as a strong volunteer for those needing help. One example is his caring for his elderly neighbor after she outlived her family until she passed at the age of 102 earlier this year.
 
John attended the Boys Town Family Reunion in July and while attending became a Lifetime Member of BTNAA,
 
John is survived by his beloved wife Cindy and children; Adam, Corey, Ashley, Issac and Shamus. His siblings: Dick, Tom, Bob. Coleen, Kathy, Jeanie and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Mike.
 
A Celebration of Life was held on September 2, 2017 in Medina. MN. It was attended by family, friends and specially invited members of the Boys Town Alumni Choir who spoke and sang during the ceremony.
 
John’s volunteerism continues after his passing as he donated his body for research. Cremation and private burial will be held later.
