Remembering Their Sacrifice

Every two years a solemn ceremony is held at the Boys Town Alumni Veterans Memorial to honor the many alumni who sacrificed their lives in the service of our country on the field of battle and while serving in uniform.  The BTNAA created the Alumni Veterans Memorial in 1991 and in 2011 added a granite wall and bronze plaques to recognize and remember the sacrifice of our brother and sister alumni.  Father Flanagan, tabbed "America's War Dad" during World War II kept in touch with his "boys" during the war and when notified of casualties remembered them as family.  That tradition continues as does the tradition of service to our nation.

The names of 28 of our Boys Town brothers have been found through diligent research on the part of Jason Suibielski, '81, who is assisting the Alumni Office in updating the alumni database.  His help and dedication to this project is tremendous and is of great benefit to the Alumni Office and the BTNAA.  Please thank Jason when you see him this summer at Boys Town during the 33rd Biennial Alumni Family Reunion.

These new honorees will join 83 of their brothers who are already recognized for their sacrifice bringing the total to 121 names on this wall of honor.

Please join us at 10:30 a.m. on July 15, 2017 at the Boys Town Alumni Veterans Memorial as we honor their memory.  Remember them all on this Memorial Day Weekend.  For many of these alumni we, their brother and sister alumni, are the only family who will remember their sacrifice.
