Gary Joseph Nepper, D'58 passed away on August 31, 2016 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

obit_gary_nepper_600x800Gary Joseph Nepper, the son of Joseph and Arvilla (McCaffery) Nepper, was born on January 14, 1944, in Ida Grove, IA. He was raised and received his education in Ida Grove and graduated from Ida Grove High School.
 

After graduation, Gary lived in the communities of Des Moines, Council Bluffs, Fort Dodge and Spencer. Gary held various jobs throughout the years. He worked in construction, at a grain elevator, a nurse's aide, Smith's RV and several other jobs. Gary loved eating good food, late night radio shows, listening to music, watching football, especially supporting Notre Dame; fishing and teaching others how to fish. He also enjoyed watching TV including old movies, westerns, 'Friends' and 'Seinfeld', watching it four times a day and liked to play cribbage with his son, Dion.
 

Gary passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016, in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 72. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Harold and Lucille McCaffery; two nephews, Tony and Randy Alspach.
 

Left to cherish his memory are his lifetime partner, Teresa Cate of Spencer, IA; his children: Tammy Edson (Mike) of Carter Lake, IA, Dion Nepper (Christine) of Manilla, IA, and Becky (Christopher) Graveline of Council Bluffs, IA; six grandchildren: Robert Joe, Cory, Dustin, Ashley, Tiffany and Derrick; five great- grandchildren; one sister, Linda Alspach of Spencer, IA; one brother, Richard Nepper of Hawthorne, NV; other relatives and many friends.
