Tomas "Tomskuk" Ramirez, 85, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Mission Village Living Center in Horton, Kansas. He was born on March 7, 1930 in Horton, Kansas the son of Frank and Paula Rocha Ramirez. After Tomas graduated from High School he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart Award and their motto was "Second to None".

Following the war he worked in the construction field, for Simon Roofing Company, the Paden's, for area farmers and was a machinist for Wilde Toole in Hiawatha before retiring. He married Linda Spoone and they were later divorced. He was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church, American Legion and was a Golden Gloves Boxer in Kansas City.

Survivors include a son, Tim Ramirez of Mayetta, Kansas; two daughters, Rita Ramirez of Topeka, Kansas and Beatty Ramirez of Taos, New Mexico; two brothers, Victor Ramirez of Kansas City, Missouri and Marion Ramirez of Lawrence, Kansas; sister, Juanita White of Kansas City, Missouri; twenty grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, Merlin Ramirez, Rueben Ramirez and Tom Ramirez, daughter, Angie Ramirez, three brothers and two sisters.
