Gene Carson Gilmore, D'59, passed away on February 20, 2025, in Papillion, Nebraska.
Gene was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Dorothy and Henry Gilmore.
Gene graduated from Boys Town in 1959, where he received recognition for participation in many sports, with a favorite being football.
While employed at Western Electric, Gene met the love of his life, Linda. They married on July 21, 1962 and started a family welcoming oldest daughter Kimberly, middle child Kellie Jo, and baby boy Kenneth.
As many things changed to meet demands of a growing family, Gene began a career installing sheet rock, leading him to become a union carpenter, where he worked his way to a management position, starting a new branch of E & K Drywall in St. Joseph, Missouri and the Kansas City area.
Gene worked until medical issues mandated an early retirement in 1997.
Upon retirement, Gene and Linda couldn’t wait to return to Omaha. They purchased a house in Papillion and have lived there since 1998, taking care of one another.
Gene is survived by his Wife, Linda; Daughters, Kimberly (Eddie) Babcock and Kellie Jo Baker; Son, Kenneth (Charlotte); Brother, Bill Gilmore; Sister, Mary Salcedo; Half Sisters, Sondra Barry and Susie Morris; Grandchildren, Shawn (Alexis) Danielson, Kevan (Debra) Danielson, Kalyn Lolar, Todd Bonge, Nicholas (Danielle) Bonge, Bailey (Blane) Wilson, Briana Gilmore, Carson (Rachel) Gilmore, and 9 Great Grandchildren.
A visitation for Gene will be held Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kahler-Dolce Mortuary, 441 N Washington St, Papillion, Nebraska 68046. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 441 N Washington St, Papillion, Nebraska 68046. A burial will occur at St. John's Cemetery, 7506 South 36th Street, Bellevue, Nebraska 68147.
