obit_down_blue_600x800Martin Raymond Cervantez, '63, passed away on December 12, 2004 in Peoria, Illinois.

GALESBURG - Martin R. Cervantez, 60, of 234 W. Knox St. died at 7:25 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born Aug. 31, 1944, in Galesburg to Augustine and Jessie Rios Cervantez, he married Mary Louise Lopez in 1969 in Galesburg. He married his second wife, Adrian, on Feb. 12, 2000, in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Michigan City, Ind.; one son, Adrian of East Peoria; two stepsons, Keenan Reeves, and Adrian Bailey, both of Galesburg; two daughters, Monica Cervantez of Chicago and Sylvia Cervantez of Galesburg; four stepdaughters, Brittany Reeves, Lashadrian Bailey, Patricia Bailey and Jasmine Childress, all of Galesburg; two brothers, Felix of Galesburg and Augustine of Oak Lawn; three sisters, Mary Castro of Michigan City, Pauline Murrilo of Chicago and Angie Hollowell of Galesburg; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, and one sister.

He served in the Army Reserves.  He was an electrician at Maytag for 33 1/2 years.

He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Galesburg, where a funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. John Presley will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Watson Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
