SCPO Bernard Thompson Jackson, Jr., Ret., 75 of Jacksonville, NC, passed away Thursday evening at Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Wilmington, NC. 
 

Bernard served 28 years in the Navy, then retired 13th September of 2002. After retirement from the military, he graduated from Campbell University with a degree of Bachelor of Business Administration the 3rd June 2005. Bernard then worked 13 years in Civil Service. In the Medical Boards and Disability Evaluation Services, then retired 31 May, 2020. Outside of his military career, Bernard was a loving husband, father, and beloved Grandpa who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed taking trips to Florida to be with family, being outdoors walking and riding bikes with his wife, cooking soups, noodle dishes, chicken, and fried rice, and shooting sports on the range with his friends and family. Bernard was a man of faith, and read his bible daily. He was also an avid reader of historical and various titled books. 
 

Services will be private per the family’s request.
 

Bernard is preceded in death by his daughter Deirdre Jones, parents Bernard Sr. and Alda Mae Jackson, 3 sisters and 1 brother. He is survived by his loving wife of over 43 years Sheila Jackson of the home; sons Kendal Jackson (Amanda) of Hurlburt Field, FL and Aldan Jackson (Darcy Reid) of Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren Abel Jackson, Keiran Jackson, Heath Jackson, Lawrence Jones, Lance Jones, and Logan Jones; half sister Susan Jackson of New Castle, IN; brother in law Keith Davis (Yvonne) of Bedford, OH; sister in law Stephanie Griffin of Oak Grove, MO.; nieces Elizabeth Griffin of Berlin, Germany and Hannah Griffin of Independence, MO; son in law Lewis Jones of Flossmoor, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
