Fire Chief John Sing to be Honored - November 19, 2024
The Honor and Remember Nebraska Chapter to present Honor and Sacrifice Flag to John Sing's Family
What: Boys Town Fire Chief John Andrew Jospeh Sing personalized Honor and Sacrifice flag presentation ceremony.
John died in the line of duty on Novembr 11, 2019 at the age of 67. He was in his 48th year as a Boys Town employee.
At the time of his death he was Boys Town's longest tenured active employee.
When: Tuesday November 19, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Inside the Boys Town Fire Station, 242 Monsky Drive, Boys Town. (Next to the Boys Town Post Office).
Note: Park in the lot just south of the Fire Station.
Who: 1. Receiving the flag will be John’s wife Sharon, his daughter Jamie and son, Jason
2. Presenting the flag will be Honor and remember Nebraska Chapter and Boys Town Fire Department Leadership
3. Present will be many fire fighters who respected and were trained by Chief Sing
Why: Honor the sacrifice of a true servant leader
Note - Many of those who worked with Chief Sing have submitted their thoughts about him. These will be shared during the ceremony. An example, “He was a steadfast man. He would praise you in the things you had done right and hold you accountable for your shortcomings. He was a sounding board, and sometimes a father figure. He made Boys Town feel like a family and had a giving heart. He was Chief Sing.”
