Hastings resident Ralph A. Hert, 87, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.
Rosary will be at 10 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 8, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Prageeth Chamara officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, November 8, at West Lawn Cemetery in Grand Island. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital or ASPCA. Ralph was born November 3, 1937, in Omaha, NE to Ralph L. and Catherine (Engels) Hert. He graduated from Boys Town High School in 1955 and attended Community College. Ralph married Betty Halsted on May 19, 1990.
Ralph worked as a manager in the maintenance department at JBS Swift. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Ralph enjoyed hunting, fishing, helping friends with farmwork, camping, hanging out in the sun with his sister-in-law, and taking care of his yard.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Robert Hert and David Hert. He is survived by his wife Betty, children Julie (Tim) Kilton, Ralph (Kellie) Hert, Theresa (Brian) Thompson, Pamela (Vincent) Immordino, Michelle Becker and daughter Zoe. Sisters Joyce Kleidosty and LaVonne Waters, sister-in-law DiAnn Halsted, brothers-in-law Ron (Claudette) Halstead, Gordon Halstead. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews along with many friends.
