It was reported that Renato died from injuries suffered in a traffic accident on January 31, 1972.  He is buried at the McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska.  He served in the United States Army from October 1964 to September 1967 and was a Vietnam Veteran.  He was married and left behind a widow, Victoria Colonna.
