Terry Lynn Szymoniak, '64, died on May 19, 2013 in Alpena, Michigan.
Terry L. Szymoniak, age 66, of Rogers City, died at Alpena Regional Medical Center on Sunday May 19, 2013. The son of Walter and Audrey (Tatro) Szymoniak, Terry was born on February 5, 1947 in Rogers City.
Terry was raised in Millersburg and graduated from Onaway High School. Shortly after high school he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Hawaii.
In 2006 Terry moved back to Northern Michigan after living in San Francisco for 25 years where he had worked as a cab driver. He then took employment for a few years in Cheboygan as a security guard at Great Lakes Tissue.
Terry's greatest enjoyment came in spending time outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and loved fishing streams and his favorite fishing holes in Northern Michigan. He was content to go for walks in the woods and drive the back roads. He enjoyed morel mushroom picking in the spring, sitting around a camp fire, and watching a good NASCAR race. Terry was a member of the Millersburg Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by his father and step-mother, Walter and Maryanne Szymoniak of Millersburg; sisters, Anne Buldain of Cincinnati, Ohio, Denise Rawlins of Pottsboro, Texas, and
Karen Szymoniak of Millersburg; brothers, David Szymoniak of Seattle, Washington and Steven (Nora) Szymoniak of Texas; as well as, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding Terry in death are: his brother, Tom Szymoniak and his mother, Audrey.
