Joseph M. Smith, '49, died at 12:58 a.m., May 1, 1995, in Ohio State University Hospital.
He was born in Springfield on December 7, 1945, the son of Dennis and Margaret (Fearn) Smith. He was employed as a decorator for Fazio Color Shop for 15 years.
Survivors include, in addition to his mother of Springfield; his wife, Donna J.; six children and spouses, Mark Smith, Mary Jo and David Beach and Becky Smith, all of Springfield, Kathy and Matt Mattes of Salt Lick, Kentucky, Brandi and Tracy Adams, both at home; four sisters, Becky Ingalls, Nancy Aleshire, Diane Howard and Evelyn Tucker; one brother, Tim Smith all of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Danielle, David, Joey, Josh, Tyler, Elzabeth and Mark II; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Paul and Charles.
Funeral services were held on May 4, 2012 with burial at the Ferncliff Cemetery.
