Paul Benjamin Ortiz, '64, passed away on October 21, 2004 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Paul B. Ortiz, 59, Kansas City, MO, died October 21, 2004, at Plaza Manor, Kansas City, MO. Funeral services Monday, October 25 at Redemptorist Church, 3331 Broadway. Visitation will be 12 noon, followed by Mass at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Hospice.

Paul was born December 9, 1944, and raised in Missouri. He graduated from Father Flanigan's Boystown, entered the Navy, and served during Vietnam. He returned home in 1966, and worked as a cook and setup man for 23 years at the Hereford House, from September 1977 to December 2001.

Those he knew would say he had a sweet and kind disposition, and he was caring to all people he met. He will be buried with his wife Hatti in Little Rock, AR.

He is survived by sons Pedro Domingo Ortiz and Michael Lightner; daughters Maria Paula Ortiz and Lavisha Bailey; five brothers, Ishmeal, Jesse, Manuel, Joe Ortiz, and Robert Aranda; three sisters, Mary Ellen, Josephine Ortiz, and Linda Briones; and nine grandchildren.
