Giuseppe "Joe" James Giannelli, '64

Sergeant Giuseppe "Joe" James Giannelli, '64, was killed in action on February 16, 1967 in Kontum Province, South Vietnam.

Sergeant Giannelli was born on May 18, 1945 and came to Boys Town in 1960 from Salina, Kansas.  He was awarded the Bronze Star with "V" Device, the Purple Heart, the Vietnam Service Medal with Star, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal by the US Army.  He served in C CO, 2ND BN, 8TH INFANTRY, 4TH INF DIV, USARV.  His name is displayed on the Vietnam Memorial wall at Panel 15E, Line 43 and memorialized on the Boys Town National Alumni Association Veteran's Memorial.  He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
