James Jay Walrod, Sr., '63

obit_james_walrod_600x800James Jay Walrod, Sr., '63, passed away on June 15, 2024 in Waterville, Washington. 

James “Jim” Walrod (79) passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Waterville, Washington on June 15, 2024. He was born on February 14, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa to Paul and Eula Walrod.
 
After graduating high school, he spent time in the US Navy as a Machinist's Mate 2nd Class Petty Officer, spending time on diesel electric submarines. He then relocated to Seattle for the next 30 years.
 
Jim had an incredible sense of humor, an unrelenting work ethic and lived life to the fullest. He had a willingness to help others and never expected or wanted anything in return.
 
Anyone who knew him had a story about how he has impacted their lives. He was a very special person who touched any lives. He had a radiant smile that was infectious.
 
After retirement, Jim married his love, Wilma. Jim enjoyed making people laugh,working on anything, building things, hiking, fishing. Most of all he enjoyed taking road trips with Wilma, and exploring the country.
 
He is survived by his wife Wilma, sister Janet, son Robert (wife Jaime), Paul Walrod and James Jr (Jimmy) Walrod, granddaughter Kody (Paul's daughter).
 
He is also survived by step children Jamie (wife Kim), Tina (husband Kyle), Mandy (husband Jerry), niece Lori, nephew Larry and extended family.
 
Jim was a wonderful husband, loyal brother, incredible father. Jim was a friend to all who knew him and will be deeply missed by many.
