
Albert M. "Bo" Rhudy, Class of 1960
Albert M. “Bo” Rhudy, Class of 1960, arrived at Boys Town in September 1956 from Augusta, Georgia,with his brothers Jim and Ed. The Rhudy brothers would make their mark on Boys Town’s swimming program over the years, with older brother Bo leading the way.
Rhudy earned varsity letters all four years as a Boys Town swimmer, capturing several state championship titles, including a relay championship that included brothers Jim and Ed. Rhudy took an academic course of instruction and served as a commissioner, a class secretary and City Clerk in Boys Town’s self-government program. He also participated in Boys Town’s scouting program throughout his high school years.
After graduating from Boys Town, Rhudy attended the University of New Mexico on a swimming scholarship. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and made the Dean’s List. He also received a Rio Grande Steel Scholarship for scholastics and athletics his senior year. Rhudy was a conference champion in two swimming events and was named a collegiate All-American during his swimming career.
Rhudy spent a number of years as an engineer in the oil and automotive industry with Shell Oil and GE before starting his own business, CAMBO, Inc. CAMBO served as a manufacturer’s representative, selling plastic raw materials on a commission basis. Over the years, the business grew under Rhudy’s leadership as president and chairman. He recently retired and sold his business to his son Brian, who continues the business’s success. The elder Rhudy works part-time as a consultant to the company. Rhudy also has volunteered and mentored in his community, helping high school students understand their potential and supporting local and regional swimming clubs.
Rhudy is a Lifetime Member of the Boys Town National Alumni Association® and has served on the National Board and as a member and Chairman of the Sports Hall of Fame Committee.
Rhudy, who also has a daughter, Michelle, and his wife Katie live in Brighton, Michigan, and spend time visiting family and their grandchildren.
