THOMAS E. RENDER, JR., CLASS OF 1954, arrived at Boys Town on June 22, 1948, from Missouri Valley, Iowa, along with his brothers Edward, Patrick and Richard. Render quickly made his mark as an athlete upon his arrival at Boys Town. In addition to his athletic achievements, he was City Clerk of Boys Town in his senior year and was a Commissioner in Boys Town’s self-government program as a junior and senior.
Render earned three varsity letters in football, two in basketball and two in track, and was on the 1953 state championship basketball team, serving as captain of the team.
After graduation, Render joined the United States Army, served for two years and was honorably discharged. He worked in Omaha in the automobile industry before beginning a career with State Farm Insurance as an insurance adjuster and rose to become a manager at their headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois.
Render passed away on February 13, 1994, at the age of 57 in Bloomington, Illinois. He was a Lifetime Member of the Boys Town National Alumni Association®.
