Daniel Richard Crandall, 70, of Rapid City, SD, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Fort Meade Veterans Hospital in Sturgis, SD, after battling pancreatic cancer for several months.
At his request, Dan was cremated, and his ashes will be spread at some of his favorite places that he spent time with family.
Dan was born on September 17, 1953, in Troy, New York. In the early 60’s his family moved to Chicago, Illinois. In 1965 after his mother passed, he was sent to Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska. He was later transferred to Sky Ranch in South Dakota where he attended Belle Fourche High School with his brother, John.
After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps from 1973-1976. While stationed in Okinawa, Japan, he sustained a knee injury and was honorably discharged. He later attended Western Dakota Vo Tech.
