Gerald Thomas "Jerry" Brady, '58

obit_gerald_brady_600x800Gerald Thomas "Jerry" Brady, '58, passed away on May 15, 2023 in Kansas City, Missouri.  Lifetime Member.

Gerald "Jerry" Brady was born on July 12, 1940 and lived his early life in Ashtabula, Ohio.  At the age of 11 he was sent to Boys Town, Nebraska where he grew and prospered. 
 
While at Boys Town he was City Clerk of Boys Town in 1958 and studied pre-college, academic courses.  He was on the varsity basketball team playing for the Cowboys and was coached by legendary coaches George Pfeifer and Skip Palrang.  He graduated from Boys Town in the Class of 1958.
 
After graduation he attended Rockhurst College in Kansas City, MO.  Stepping up to serve his country, he served in the U S Navy as part of a submarine crew.
 
After honorably serving in the Navy he worked for Ashtabula Rubber Co., Ashtabula, Ohio,  Conneaut Hardware, Conneaut, Ohio, Lozier Equipment, Omaha, Nebraska, Purina Foods at various locations and Evergreen Mills which specialized in Animal Feeds.  He also did maintenance work for the Livestock Exchange Building which housed the famous Golden Ox Restaurant in Kansas City, Missouri.
 
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Schroeder), son (Michael) and son (Mark). 
 
He is survived by his son (Matthew) of Kansas City, daughter (Meghan) of Kansas City, his grand-son, Skyler of Lawrence, Kansas brothers, James of Springfield, Illinois and Colin (Ed) of Springfield, Missouri.
 
Jerry loved to play golf and watch old cowboy shows on TV but really enjoyed eating his ice cream right out of the carton.
