David Aloysius Pyle, '73

obit_david_pyle_600x800David Aloysius Pyle, '73, passed away on June 17, 2020 in Columbus, Nebraska.

David “Gomer” Pyle of Columbus died Wednesday, June 17, 2020 working in his beloved garden.
 
David “Gomer” A. Pyle was born August 5, 1954 in East Liverpool, OH to Thayer and Shirley (Auster) Pyle. He grew up in Ohio and following his parent’s deaths, he was raised in Boys Town where he graduated in 1973.

He entered the US Army where he had various stations in the US and in Germany. Gomer lived and worked in Wayne, Nebraska before coming to Columbus in 1978 to work at Behlen Mfg. On October 29, 1988, he was united in marriage to Cheryl (Matulka) Moss. He worked at Behlen’s until retiring in 2009.  Gomer had a great love of fishing, hunting, Ohio State football, gardening, bowling, and his dog Midnight.

He is survived by: Wife: Cheryl Pyle of Columbus, Stepdaughter: Dawn (Mark Henry) Moss of Columbus, Stepdaughter: Mandi (Wayne) Wuest of Monroe;  Grandchildren Eric (Hanna) Henry, Mitchell Moss, Ian Henry, Emilee Henry, Joshua Dohmen, and Kyle Wuest
 
He was preceded in death by: Parents, Granddaughter: Meridan Moss

Visitation under Covid-19 guidelines is 11-1 PM Monday. June 22 at McKown Funeral Home.  Graveside services were at 2:00 pm Monday, June 22 at Roselawn Cemetery in Columbus with Military Honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard.
