Robert Charles "Bob" Anderson, '57

obit_robert_c_anderson_600x800Robert Charles "Bob" Anderson, '57, passed away on December 17, 2022 in Bangs, Texas.  Lifetime Member.

At age ten (Nov 1949), Bob came to Boys Town from Bartlesville, OK with his brothers Jack and Jim. While there, he distinguished himself in Swimming, lettering during all four years of high school and in his senior year being made captain of the Swim Team. That same year he took the State Championship in the 100yd freestyle event.
After graduating, Bob entered the Motorola sales force. The joke was, what is RCA doing, working for Motorola??
About 30 years ago Bob left the big city and the corporate world. Far from retiring, he took up cattle ranching with his wife’s family in central Texas. He had an intense interest in garlic, its nutritional and medicinal properties. He gained a reputation obit_robert_c_anderson_2_600x800as an expert in the field, creating an extensive, very educational website (gourmetgarlicgardens.com) , and earning the unofficial title of “Garlicmeister.” For some years he grew several varieties of the crop, and eventually became a distributor for growers all around the country.  Watch an interesting YouTube video of Bob as he explains his work with garlic.  Video (Courtesy of Bob's website Gourmet Garlic Gardens)
He loved the ranch, the isolation, the quiet, and was quite good playing on the Indian flutes he made for himself. He also loved to talk about garlic with anyone who would listen.
Bob died in his home on December 17. He is survived by his wife Meridee, daughter Tanya (Keith) Marshall, and brothers Jack (Class of ’56, Colorado) and Jim (Class of ’59, Arkansas).
Bob was a lifetime member of the Boys Town Alumni Association.
Many thanks to Bob's brother Jim, '59 for the obituary.  Our prayers and condolences to the Anderson family.
