"Bob" Maly, Former Food Service Director and 42 year Boys Town Employee, passed away on December 17, 2021 in Omaha, Nebraska.  BTNAA Honorary Lifetime Member.

Robert Paul “Bob” Maly was born to Marie and John Maly on September 24, 1946 and grew up in Creighton, Nebraska. Bob was the eighth of nine children and graduated from St. Ludger’s Catholic High School in 1964. Bob served in the United States Army from 1966-1968. In September of 1969, Bob married the love of his life, Deloris Ann Chvala. They were blessed with three daughters, Regina, Brenda, and Marie.

Bob was a 42-year employee of Father Flanagan’s Boys Town in the food service department. He retired in 2009 as one of the most tenured employees. Bob truly enjoyed working with the youth and supporting their athletic events and achievements. A lifetime Yankees fan, traveling to New York City to see games at Yankee Stadium brought him great joy. Bob also enjoyed watching Husker Football and Volleyball. Other favorite pastimes were golfing, bowling with the “Gutter Gourmets” (on the Boys Town leagues), and neighborhood card games. The highlight of Bob’s life was spending time with his 11 grandchildren; attending their programs, athletic events, teaching them to drive, playing games, and telling jokes. The entire family enjoyed multiple trips to Florida for time with each other on the beach.

After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Robert Paul Maly went to his heavenly home on December 17, 2021.
