James Ray Spitler, '62, passed away on April 13, 2014 in Indian Land, South Carolina.
Mr. James Ray Spitler, 71, of Indian Land, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at his home.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Wolfe Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m.
Born in Webster City, Iowa, Mr. Spitler was a son of the late James Jay Spitler and Dorothy Stopplemore Spitler. He graduated from Boys Town in Nebraska and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Spitler was a former building maintenance supervisor with Providence Day school. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Layne Burks Spitler; his son, Phillip Ray Spitler and his wife, Ginger of Charlotte; his daughter-in-law, Susan McManus Spitler; and six grandchildren, Josh Spitler, Lexie Spitler, Kaylee McCluney, Emory Ray Spitler, and Adalyn Faye Spitler.
