Roy C. Pechous, D'51

Roy C. Pechous, D'51, passed away on October 16, 2015 in Henderson, Nevada.  Lifetime Member.

obit_roy_pechous_600x800Roy C. Pechous, 79, of Henderson, NV and formerly of Berwyn, IL, passed away peacefully October 16, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
 
Roy is survived by his wife, Vera (nee Mirkovic), his daughter Monica, and three of his five brothers: Donald (late Carla), John (Nancy) and Kenneth (Pam). He was preceded in death by his parents John M. Pechous and Frances A. (Seidel) Pechous, and his brothers, Robert (Beth) and Vernon (late Carole).
 
Born in Berwyn on June 16, 1936, Mr. Pechous graduated from the John Marshall Law School with Honors and held a degree in Finance Management from Southern Illinois University. He was also a proud Veteran of the US Army.
 
Before retiring, Roy maintained a law practice for more than 40 years in Berwyn, IL. Roy was elected to the 7th District as Delegate to the Illinois Constitutional Convention where he made contributions to our present Illinois Constitution.
 
Roy held various government positions throughout his successful career: Supervisor of Hearing Officers at the Illinois Commerce Commission; Assistant Attorney General; Hearing Officer for the Illinois Pollution Control Board; Administrative Law Judge; and as Assistant State's Attorney of Cook County, Criminal Division.
 
Roy was interested in fitness; running several miles per day. He had a passion for aviation and was an experienced instrument and multi-engine pilot, enjoying time in the sky with his Cessna Cardinal plane and as Major and Commander of the 101st Air Rescue Squadron of Civil Air Patrol.
 
Roy has left a legacy with his service to country and community, his kind heart and generous demeanor. His accomplishments and accolades pale in comparison to the joy he received spending time with his daughter Monica.
