David Henry Dirkx, '63, passed away on March 26, 2008 in El Paso, Texas.
David Henry Dirkx beloved Brother, Father, Grandfather, and Friend, born July 4, 1945 in Carroll, Iowa passed from this life on March 26, 2008 in El Paso, Texas. He was preceded in death by his sister Wanita Dirkx Schroeder.
His remaining family includes his children: Daryl Dirkx and Sheila Dirkx Alvarez (David), grandchildren: Lindsey and Austin Alvarez; brothers and sisters: Marcellus Dirkx, Maxine Dirkx Goetzinger (Vince), Merle Dirkx (Marlene), Lyle Dirkx (Mary Kay), Cleo Dirkx Wiskus, and Robert Dirkx (Carol).
Dave attended school at Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska where he completed his education. A true patriot he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1965 and was a decorated paratrooper and MP. He fulfilled his faithful service to his country in 1968. He then began a successful career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where he retired in 2001.
An avid golfer, fisherman, outdoorsman, he will always be remembered as a kind, loving, courageous, and adventurous man. Dave cherished his family, friends and all that life had to offer. Forever he will remain vibrant in our hearts, thoughts and prayers as he embarks on a new journey in the body of Christ.
Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, El Paso, TX, with Rev. Msgr. Francis J. Smith of St. Raphael's Catholic Church, officiating.
