Thomas P. Roth, of Colman, SD, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the VA hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Tom was born on February 3, 1949 to Clarence and Marguarite (Loneman) Roth in Mitchell, SD. He graduated from Boys Town High School in Omaha, NE. After high school, Tom enlisted in the US Air Force and as an Airman, Tom was deployed to Vietnam from his station at Ellsworth Air Force Base. While stationed at Ellsworth AFB, Tom met and fell in love with Linda Kruse. The two married November 27, 1971 and began their lives together in Omaha.

In 1978, Tom and Linda moved to Colman, and Tom began working at T/R Electric. He worked for the company for 35 years before his “retirement” and continued part-time for a total of 41 years.

Tom loved fishing, admiring old pickups, and taking trips to the Black Hills. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and working at his sister-in-law’s campground at Lake Thompson, ‘Jerry’s Country Estates’. Tom will be remembered as a skilled conversationalist and an exceptional storyteller.

 
Tom is survived by his wife, Linda, of Colman; his children: Shane (Monica) Roth, DeSmet, SD; Kelly Roth, Watertown, SD; Keenan (Katie) Roth, Watertown, SD; and Mindy Staggs, Colman; 18 grandchildren: Jeremiah, Joshua, Noah, Brayden, Josiah, Isaiah, Olivia, Alijah, Aden, Thacher, Ethan, Kylie, Ryan, Ashley, Zach, Elizabeth, Jake, and Kenz; and his brother, Joe (Debbie) Roth, Omaha. Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
 
Visitation was from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman. A private family prayer service followed, led by Pastor Ross Youmans. Interment will take place at a later date at the South Dakota State National Cemetery in Sioux Falls. Memorials may be sent to Linda at 312 Cornell St. Colman, SD 57017.
