Report

While the communications committee has not yet met, several actions are occuring:
1. The BTNAA Webmaster has begun publishing a monthly eNewsletter to provide more information for and about alumni that is not making it into the quarterly printed newsletter.
2. Tony Jones and John Mollison are in discussion to identify ways to increase the presence of alumni related news in the quarterly newsletter. We have begun receiving feedback regarding the lack of alumni specific news items in the printed newsletter. Part of the issue is being able to acquire stories for the newsletter. It is agreed that we should actively solicit news stories for the newsletter. Tony Jones and John Mollison will be meeting with the Brent Robinson, the publisher of the newsletter in Boys Town's marketing department, to see how we can expand the alumni offerings in the printed newsletter. We will provide a report to the board at the spring meeting.
3. The obituary section of the website is being reorganized (sample) to make finding names a little easier and we will be adding the names and dates of passing of as many alumni we know of by either graduation year or departure year. This will take some time since we presently know of at least 3000 alumni who have passed away and are finding more every day.
4. Interesting statistics from last eNewsletter as of January 11, 2021:
a. Of 1217 eNewsletters sent, 929 were opened.
b. Most hits occurred on the following articles: Obituary-131, 1990 Newsletter-73, Stan Struble Story-38, Board of Director Nominations-22
5. If you know of great stories for the printed newsletter or the eNewsletter please forward them to Tony Jones at the Alumni Office and John Mollison.
